Kimber or SIG
Question
Dear,
I would like to buy a new pistol in 45acp for target purpose. I have the choice between a Kimber Custom Target II and a SIG P220 X-Zone (sport model of the P220). I like the Kimber for the look and I like 1911's in general but the SIG has a very good reputation. What do you think about it ? Is Kimber series II of good quality and reputation (I've heard some problems about series II) ? What if you have to choose ?
Thanks a lot and regards,
Bernard
Answer
Hi Bernard, Thank you for your question.......
In addition to this response, please see my answer "handguns" of 7/5/06. You will find my review of five pistols there including the Kimber.
In short, if I were making the purchase it would be the Kimber (as you will see in the above mentioned review). SIG also has a great reputation and you wouldn't go wrong either way.
You have indicated that you like the Kimber and seem to be leaning that direction. I would suggest that you go with those instincts. With both pistols being top quality, I would go with the one that I liked/wanted most.
As for problems.... I can tell you about reported problems of one kind or another about almost any firearm that you mention. Sometimes that would prevent me from suggesting a certain firearm, but not in the case of either of these two. Either manufacture will stand behind their product should you have a problem.
In my opinion, Kimber wins this one.
