Info and value of my Walther P-38
Question
I recently purchased a Walther p-38. The serial # is 167889 on trigger guard. On left side of slide is Carl Walther Waffenfabrik Ulm/Do 889. On right side of slide is 2 stamped crowns or apples, can't tell for sure, and in front of those is a #4/62. Also on the trigger guard is 2 more stamped apples or crowns. On the inside handle is PW Arms Redmond, WA. The pistol is about 85% condition. Could you please give me a little info on the pistol and approx. value if you could. Thank you very much. Byron
Answer
byron,
There is a lot of information out there concerning the Walthers which is a direct result of the many variations of the line.
Carl Walther Waffenfabrik Ulm/Do are post war manufactured and have the location of the plant "Ulm" stamped on them. "Ulm" is the city and the "Do" indicates the manufacturing location on the Donall River where Walther was located after WW-2
Your gun appears to be a P38 that was imported via PW Arms of Redmond WA. The value of said pistol is difficult to advise of without addition information. However, as described by you I would estimate it to be in the $350 to $450 range "depending".
I hope this gives you better idea of what you have.
Thanks for the question.
