age of firearms
Question
I have a remington 32 caliber pump rifle serial# C54974 with RR marking on barrel and a Winchester Model 12 shotgun serial# 591532.
I'd like to know how old these guns are.
Answer
Rick,
Remington made the model 14/14A/14R slide action rifle in 32. which had a round barrel 22", blued with a plain walnut stock that was manufactured from 1912 to 1936.
They also made the model 141 slide action rifle in .32 which had a 24" barrel, blue with a plain walnut stock that was made from 1936 to 1950.
There were other slide actions manufactured by Remington but not in .32
The Model 12 was Winchesters first slide action hammerless shotgun. It was manufactured for 51 years and there were nearly 2 million sold. Standard Grade Model 12's were built from 1912 to 1963. If in a "Featherweight" model, they were manufactured between 1959 and 1962.
For an exact manufacture date and or value (if interested in retail $$) I would suggest contacting the manufacture for a manufacture documented history certificate/letter for the firearm/s in question. You may also get additional information via either manufacture's collectors associations.
I hope this narrows things down for you a bit and points in an additional direction for more specfic information if you desire. If not, let me know.
Thanks for the question.
