adjustable shotgun pads

I have a Silma that needs to have the drop changed. What is the best way to do this? Is it ok to use an adjustable pad and if so, where do you find them?

This is not an uncommon problem. I see it very often on the trap and skeet ranges along with a varity of remedies.

The best (and unfortunatlly the most expensive) would be to visit with a Stocksmith. He/she will be able to measure every aspect of your physique and manipulate your stock in such a fashion so as to cause it to custom fit you.

Of course another option would be to have the stocksmith fit a totally new stock that can adjusted for lenght of pull, drop etc. Also a relatively expensive route to go.

There is nothing "wrong" with using an adjustable pad. It just does not look or preform as well. Check out www.midway.com and/or www.cheeknstock.com to see a varity of aftermarket pads. One may serve your purpose.

If it were me (and money was not an object) I'd get a stocksmith to size me up and adjust my factory stock. A stocksmith can actually heat and manipulate your existing stock to the proper "fit point" for you.
