Answer
Hi Dennis,
The Stevens gun in question was mfg. by the J. Stevens Arms Company of Chicopeafalls Mass. as you have indicated. It was a utility grade slide action shotgun. They were chambered for a variety of gauges, barrels lengths and chokes. They had blued finish with walnut stocks.
The sporting version of said gun in "good" condition has a retail value of $150. If you happen to have (doubtful) a Model 620 Trench Gun, in the same condition, it would have a retail value of approximately $600. With bayonet add $150.
I really have no one great site to direct you to for information on this particular gun. However, you may want to try www.oldguns.net as a starting point. You will find a tab onto which you can click "Books For Arms Collectors" and you will find a variety of books from which to select if you want to go that route.
There are several publications that you could purchase or..... just use one of the search engines to investigate the possibility of sites that may have what you are looking for in addition to the above listed.
Thanks for the question.
