Cobray TM-11
Question
I have just acquired a Cobray TM-11 made by Leinad out of Tennessee.I have not fired it as of yet.I cannot find any imfo on the gun as far as reliability or what it might be worth.Any info you might have would be really appreciated, thanks Keith.
Answer
Hi Keith,
This is a relatively inexpensive "Tommy Gun" version of carbine. It fires from the closed bolt and is made of steel stampings with a parkerized type finish.
As far as reliability......... this depends upon what standard we are using here. Is it reliable enough for causal shooting, targets at the range, plinking ? Yes, it is "reliable". Would I personally want to rely upon it in a moment of crisis? No, I would not. However as they say, "but thats just me".
Of course it can be said that any firearm is only as reliable as the amount of attention that it receives in maintenance etc.
The TM-11 is what it is. A relatively inexpensive stamped metal parts "fun gun" that has the tommy-gun look and appeal. Since you already own it, just enjoy it for what it is.
The retail value in "good" condition of a TM-11 is $200. When new, they were obtainable in the $350 area. If you have a used one in Exc. condition, it would have a retail value of about $325.
Thanks for the question.
