Old gun and holster
Question
I have a gun that my father gave me. It belonged to my great grand father. On the barrel is says "FOR 32 WINCHESTER CTGS. On the other side of the barrel is a crown symbol over a capital R then a star then a small letter q. Below that, a little futher down, is another small star symbol and the letter q again. On the top of the gun it says COWBOY RANGER. The handles are black and have a running stag symbol on each side.
The leather holster, which I assume was also my great grand fathers' but could have been my fathers or my grand fathers' has the words TEX TAN stamped on the back then the letters US incased in an oval circle in the front.
The gun and holster are in good to fair condition. The gun still works but needs to be cleaned by a professional. The holster has some wear but is together and not falling apart.
What can you tell me about this gun and holster? How old are they and what are they worth?
Thanks,
Forest
Answer
Hi Forest,
As best that I can determine based upon the info provided is that the Cowboy Ranger was a trade name for inexpensive pocket revolvers made from the 1920's into the mid 50's. If in good condition it has a retail value of around $85.
I do not any good information on the leather so can't help you much there.
Thanks for the question Forest.
