Lee factory crimp
Question
Hi Vic
What do you think of crimping a non grooved bullet like the Sierra or the Nosler with the Lee factory crimp die on heavy recoil rifles.
Thank you
Larry
Answer
Personally, I crimp all my reloads to prevent slippage in the case, either from recoil, bumping the mag well wall, and just to ensure they stay at the "Over All Length" I set them at.
The crimp doesn't need to dent the round or be in the crimp ring, matter of fact most of mine are not because I set the round out until it barely touchs the lands in the barrel. That prevents "Jump" and entering the barrel off center.
The crimp is just enough to snug the case against the round, not to deform it.
Plain old safe measure.
