Stevens Shotgun Info
Question
I have a 12G double barrel shotgun marked "Stevens" on the left side of the receiver and "J. Stevens Arms Company" on the right. The right side also is marked "Chicopee Falls, Mass. USA" and "PATENTED April 20, 1915". There is no model number marked however, all parts are marked H6654. I believe there is some throat erosion that makes it difficult to eject fired rounds. I would like to track down a replacement barrel but need the model number. I hope you can help and thank you in advance.
Answer
Frank,
Stevens produced many different model shotguns in a double barrel version that were of utility grade between 1877 and 1988. They were chambered in all gauges and also in .410 bore. They had various length barrels and chokes. Most had double triggers and extractors.
Unfortunately I cannot advise you of the exact model number since there are about 30+ models listed in my reference listing/s.
I would suggest that you contact Numrich gun parts at www.e-gunparts.com and provide them with the information that you have. Perhaps they have more detailed cross reference information available to them and if so, should also be able to advise you as to the availability of barrels.
Good luck and thanks for writing.
