Question
Hello again sid. I have a 22 and on the barrel it says SPRINGFIELD and after that it says savage arms corporation chicopee falls mas USA model 87a. Its semi-auto and the bullets are tube feed stock also looks to be like a walnut and it has permanent open sights. just looking to get the year and were manufactured and maby if u could a price on it ty greenmoutinboy

The 87a was made under several names such as Savage, Stevens, Springfield. However they are all basically the same .22 rifle.
It was originally marketed as a "Springfield" brand until 1948 at which point they began marketed under "Stevens". This is about the best that I can do in narrowing down its age. Very little info on exact dates of manufacture on these guns.
These rifles had more than their share of mechanical problems mostly due to spring failure. Some model 87's have even been reported to go full-auto due to same.
In "good" condition it has an approximate retail value of about $75.
