Answer
Troy,
I'll address the easy part first. Yes.... if you purchased the rig that you describe for $300 I think that you did great ! Now.... as long as it shoots well, you are all set.
As for "reloads" this can be a very long answer considering all of the options available to you in reloading. I am not ducking this part of the question but I feel that you would be better served by doing some research yourself on the many reloading sites and info pages. You could start by looking at www.starsandstripesammo.com and www.beartoothbullets.com. You may also find useful information at www.chuckhawks.com
If after pursuing these (and other) sites you still have any question concerning the 458 and whitetail, write me again and we'll investigate it together.
I think after reading up on all of this, you are going to find that you may be dealing with a rather large caliber to get it loaded down very far for whitetail - but..... I may be wrong. One thing about it, you cannot kill a whitetail "too dead" with it but it definitely is more gun than is needed ... even loaded down. This does not however mean that it cannot be used.
Thanks for the question.
