Colt Agent .38
Question
Good evening, I was trying to find out if I can use the .38 Special+P's in my Colt Agent.
The box for what I have says Velocity 950 fps 125 gr jhp.
I wanted to check with an expert before using them, since I wasn't 100% sure.
Thanks
Stacy
Answer
Stacy,
Colt revolvers in that company's "D" frame were among the most delicate revolvers made. I would recommend sparse use of +P ammunition even in the Detective Special, which has an all-steel frame.
With the aluminum frame of the Agent, I would be even more cautious. If I were you, I think I would stick to standard velocity rounds for practice, and save the +P for emergencies, i.e. self-defense only.
You would probably be OK to shoot a cylinder full of +P just to see what it is like. My guess is that after shooting a cylinder full in that light little gun, you won't WANT to shoot any more +P unless you have too.
