Value of Remington ADL 700 Dale Earnhardt signature rifle
Question
Hi Sid, I recently purchased this rifle from a local dealer, new in box with iron sights, which they sold to me not realizing it had the Dale jr signature on it. Can you tell me the value of it as I am unable to locate one anywhere else. Any help will be appreciated as I don't want to devalue it by shooting it if it has any significant value. Thanks, Bill
Answer
Hi Bill,
First of let me address the issue of special run (or "limited edition")commemorative type guns in general. Most often the special run guns are not going to be worth much more (if any) than the same make/model gun without the special markings. In your case its the Dale Jr. signature model.
I will qualify this with IF you happen upon a buyer who collects such guns, you may be able to extract a slight amount more. However I will tell you that I am usually not that lucky when I'm the one trying to sell one.
I would not worry about shooting it. It is of much more personal value to you if you can enjoy shooting it. Also it will never be worth any additional money anyway unless/until you are willing to sell it.
Often times you can obtain information that will imply that you should be able to add anywhere form $100 to $200 to the retail value. However...... that has not been my personal experience.
A Remington Model 700 ADL (without D.E. sig.) is listed as follows:
NIB $425
Exc. $325
V.G. $250
Good $200
So....... you can use these "Standard Models" as a barometer as to where you may be on the version that you have. I can also advise the M.S.R. (which is the extreme high end) price was around $700.
Again, if it were me, I'd enjoy shooting it and if and when I wanted to sell later, would just accept what ever the market would bear. But hey..... thats just me.
Thanks for the question Bill.
