US Remington Model 1903 Rifle

Dear Sid,
I'd like a rough idea of what the following gun is worth. It is a 30-06 military rifle. The receiver is marked "US Remington Model 1903" ser # 3135616. The barrel seems to be marked "N" The parkerizing has been replaced with gun blue and the stock has been cut back and refinished to make it look more like a hunting rifle. I believe that the barrel etc are in good condition.

Unfortunately a "rough" idea is about the best that I can do not being able to inspect the rifle and with all of the modifications that have apparently been made to it.

An original M1903 "can" be worth in the thousands. However (you had to know a "however" was coming) the particular rifle that you describe, with the modifications/refinishing that you describe is probably in the $300 at best.
