12ga. single shot
Question
I purchased an old 12 Ga. single shot shotgun. The only marking on the gun, Hopkins & Allen Arms co., Norwick conn. also the barrel and block have the number 6303. the block looks like brass. It is lever action.
Any info on this gun would be appreciated.
Answer
Hi,
I might not be too help as this was at end of the black poweder period. Hopkins and Allen Manufacturing Co. was used from 1868 to 1898. Hopkins and Allen Arms Co. was used from 1898 to 1915. They made falling block shotguns based on their falling block rifle design. I would guess that a falling block shotgun in good condition would bring maybe $100 to $1000 depending on condition. Don't shoot it until having it evaluated by a gunsmith for safety.
