Tanfoglio Handgun
Question
Hello. I have an older Armi Tanfoglio Model GT 38C 9mm (.380). It is a model before Tanfoglio remachined for the IPSC world. I have no idea what its age is. My question is does this model require a specific kind of ammo. I have tried to run PMC 380 Centerfire Rounds through it; 90grns, FMJ. It jams before I finish a clip. Can you recommend another type of ammo that might work better or should I have a smith look at it? I have been unable to find much of any info on this piece. I love the gun and would like to be able to shoot it. Any suggestion is appreciated.
Answer
What you are using for ammo is common and should work. You can try a different brand, I recommend Winchester or Remington. The other thing is to look at the feed ramp, which is the area, like a ramp, of the frame that the bullet rides on as it is peeled off the mag. and going into the chamber. Sometimes this gets burred causing ammo to bind up. Remove the slide, and with a dowel, or screwdriver shaft, with a piece of fine emery cloth wrapped around it, polish it till it is smooth. Use a magic marker to color the area, and then polish as I said. When there is no more marker, then you know you have polished it completely. Thanks for the question.
