Advantage Arms .22 Conversion

QUESTION: Hi! I was wondering if you are familiar with the Advantage Arms .22 conversion kit for the Glock 29. I'd like to buy one, but the AA website states that certain aftermarket parts--the ghost connector specifically--will not work with the .22 conversion kit.

A while back, I had a NY1 trigger spring installed in my Glock. The connector, however, is the standard 5.5 lb. factory connector. Will the conversion kit still work?

I did call AA about this, but they weren't too helpful.

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!!

ANSWER: Mr. Jones,

I am familiar with the AA conversion and have one for a G17.  It works as reliably as any .22 pistol (which is somewhat less reliably than any pistol that shoots a center fire cartridge).

AA must have some experience with Ghost connectors that have led them to post this. I've known several people who have put Ghost connectors in their guns and taken them right back out because of reliability problems.  If the Ghost connector works with a particular gun, though, it does not necessarily mean that it would work with the AA conversion.

Particularly the Ghost "Rocket" that limits rearward travel is a problem for the AA.  The disconnector protrusion in the slide of the AA has much less surface area than the Glock slide, and I can envision how any device that limits the rearward travel ("over travel") of the Glock trigger could cause the kit to malfunction.

I cannot see why the stock NY trigger would cause a problem, but if it did (and you really want to be able to change back and forth between a 10mm and a .22LR), a solution might be to take out the NY trigger and install a Glock standard   (= 8lbs connector) with the regular trigger spring.

I am sorry that I don't have any experience with this particular set up, and if you get the kit, I would appreciate your feedback as to how it works.

I agree...I don't see how a NY1 trigger would make a difference as long as the connector is the same factory standard one that came with the gun. I'll let you know how it goes. Have a great holiday!

I noticed that the AE service filtered out part of my answer.  My suggestion was that if for some reason the kit didn't work with the NY1 trigger spring, you could replace the connector with the standard Glock PLUS connector, which makes the pull around 8lbs - not as heavy as the NY trigger, but more than heavy enough in my estimation.  Sorry for the confusion.
