Swivel Mounts on Synthetic Stocks
Question
Can a gunsmith install swivel mounts on a synthetic stock? I've had this done on wood stocks but I've never seen or heard of an instance of this being done post factory with synthetic. Specifically I'm wondering about the Ruger 10/22. Thanks, MSS
Answer
Hi Mark.
It is very easy to install swivel mounts into wood or synthetic stocks as long as you get the right style of mount. In most cases you can do it yourself and the mounts usually come with simple instructions. On a really expensive rifle or one with an unusual stock then I would take it to a local gunsmith. Any of them should be able to do it in less than an hour and they can help you locate the proper parts if needed. Check out cheaperthandirt.com, brownells.com, or cabelas.com since they usually have a good assortment of gun parts available at fair prices.
Good luck!
