Ithica m-49 22 cal magnum rifle
Question
Do I have to use magnum shells in this gun? Is it a matter of safety or correct ejection of shells? Also, what about the use of bird shot shells in this gun? It is in very good shape for its age and does not appear to have been shot very often. Thank you! Greg
Answer
Greg,
Yes, you should use only .22mag. (.22WMR?) in your .22 mag rifle. It could become a matter of safety but it also is not the proper size case. The .22mag. has a larger case diameter.
As for bird shot...... yes you can shoot bird shot providing (again) that it is the correct size .22 for the individual rifle that you are shooting it out of.
I am also assuming here that you are actually referring to the .22 WMR (Winchester Magnum Rifle).
I hope this helps you out and thanks for the question Greg.
