stevens 16 gauge model 940
Question
Hi Sid,
My step Dad had an old Stevens 16 gauge model 940, I am trying to find out the approx age and value of the shotgun. I didn't see a serial number on it anywhere. Hope you can help.
Thanks,
Rick
Answer
Ricky,
The Stevens model 940 was one of many single shot hinged action shotguns made over the years by Savage/Stevens and was chambered for 2 3/4" shells. It had a case hardened receiver with blue steel barrel.
The 940 was prevalent throughout the 1960's and if in "good" condition would have an approximate retail value of $75 to $100.
Thank you for the question Ricky.
