Browning/FN 16 gauge shotgun
Question
I have a Browning 16 gauge shotgun that was made in Belgium. It has an FN marking on it. It also has a bunch of different markings on the barrel. One of which is a sideways circle with a crown on top, and it has an E on the top of the inside, an L and G right below that, and then a star. Can you tell me where I can find out what all these markings are, and also how I can find out the model number of this gun. The model number is no where to be found on the gun. Any info you can tell me on this gun, or where to find it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Answer
The best reference book available is called the Browning Auto 5 by H.M. Shirley and Anthony Vanderlinden. It has an abundance of information. If your shotgun is most likely the Auto 5 and if it has sweet 16 on the side of the receiver and a gold trigger, then it is the Auto 5 sweet 16. Otherwise it is a standard grade 16 gauge auto 5. Hope this helps.
