S. L. or LR
Question
What exactly do the letters S.L.or L.R. mean on the barrel?
Answer
Lady,
Assuming your rifle or pistol is a .22 caliber, the letters S, L, and LR on the barrel would mean that the firearm can shoot the following calibers:
.22 caliber short (the S designation)
.22 caliber long (the L designation)
.22 caliber long rifle (the LR designation)
The most common .22 caliber ammo today is the .22 LR (long rifle) and that will probably be the easiest to find. The only difference was in the length of the round and the power each had due to the different powder loads.
Hope this helps you out...
