Any info on a 6mm maid in england.

Question
I have been online for the last 5 hours trying to find out anything about a 6mm rifle maid in england with the marks BNP on it.it also has the crown simble over the BNP. it has a montycarlo stock.I would really be thinkfull for any info or where i can find info on this gun.

Answer
Hello Dennis.

I don't have enough info to identify your rifle for sure but here is some info which might help:

The "BNP" with a crown over it is known as a proof mark. All English firearms had to be proofed before they could be sold legally. Each gun was proofed according to the proof laws that existed at the time of manufacture.

The BNP with a crown over it is the Birmingham Proof House mark for a gun that was made from 1954 until present day, so this will at least narrow down the age of the gun a bit for you.

To positively identify it you can try searching the various auction sites for rifles which look similar and then you will know who makes it. Here are some links to try:

http://www.auctionarms.com/
http://www.gunbroker.com/
http://www.gunsamerica.com/

https://store.bluebookinc.com/InstantAccess/Manufacturer.aspx?product=5

Hope this helps!
