Question
Hi Jim,I have a '72 Browning/Sako .243 Safari grade, heavy barrel that I purchased new, that is in like new-99% condition. Can you give me approximate Value? Also I'm looking for the same rifle in 22-250.I'ts hard to find, there are a few Safari's on the web but the wrong years. Can you advise me were I might look. and one last thing,is there a book on Belgium Browning,Browning/Sako Rifles? Thank you for your time. Fellow Belgium Browning owner, Bruce H.
Answer
Bruce,
As long as your rifle does not have salt wood and is in Mint condition, you can expect to get $1350-$1500 for the rifle. As far as finding a 22-250.... It is difficult to find mint condition rifles on the internet. I would suggest you consider joining the Browning Collectors Association. We have a free classifieds section and often times there will be excellent quality rifles that float from collector to collector. The initial membership is only $35.00 for the first year and $30.00 subsequently. If you send me your e-mail and phone number I will keep an eye out for you as I see a fair amount of the Safari, Medallion and Olympian Grades.
There is not a book on the Belgium Browning bolt actions as of yet. There has been some talk amongst a few of us, but never any movement towards publishing. Hope this helps.
