Newport 16ga.
Question
Hi, i saw that you had replied to a question about a Newport shotgun someone had found. I was hoping you could shed some light on mine. I recently got it from my grandmother. It is a Newport model CN double barrel in 16 gauge. It is hammerless. I have found that they were sold by a hardware company from chicago, but i was wondering who manufactured it and about how old it is. The only number on the gun is T4579. I was also wondering if it has damascas barrels. Any info would be much appreciated.
Thank you! Tanner
Answer
Newport was a trade name used by the H&D Folsom Arms Co.
Your gun was made for Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Company in Chicago.

Have this gun checked a gunsmith before firing.
It could have a short chamber.
