just purchased 1895 savage303. believe its a carbine barrel retains 85% of bluing , stock and forearm has allvarnish has some small cracks dings overall conditions is excellent for its age. shoots great as bore is in good condition would like to know value if any?

Hello David. If your rifle barrel is 22 inches and has not been cut off to that length, approximate value according to BlueBook of Gun Values is from $3,900-$9,000. If it has a round barrel, it is rare. You should also find the Marlin Company proof mark on the barrel under the forearm, since it was actually manufactured by Marlin for Savage. According to serial #5636 it was manufactured in early 1895. I am sad to say that the selling price of this model is, at this time, around $2,000 for a good and shootable condition rifle. I recommend that you check out some web sites that sell firearms at auction. This will help you understand the huge price difference.
