its a universal 2036 12 gauge over/under shotgun 28" I've never heard of universal i tried surfing the web but cant seem to find anything on it so any information you can give I'd appreciate; the value, age, if its a good gun or should i just scrape it thanks again for your time

Universal Firearms made a number of shotguns but I can't find any record of a model 2036. You can read a bit about the company history and see the various models with descriptions / values via the following link:

If you do find your gun there then you can purchase the blue book data online. The same site also has a serial number cross reference but I doubt that your gun is listed in there. Here is the link to check it out:
