bullet serial numbers

Hello, i was recently talking to a friend and he said by 2010 all bullet manufacturers are going to put serial numbers on each cartridge is this true?cause if it is i think it's another useless atempt to stop crime.

I think that it will not happen, and I hope that it will not happen.  It is not very practical.  Many hundreds of millions of bullets are already available.  So, criminals could easily keep a supply of non-numbered bullets for hundreds of years.  Plus, it is not difficult to manufacture your own bullets (I do).

Such a law would only serve to increase manufacturing costs, and cause increased hardship for law-abiding people.

I don't think it is an attempt to "stop crime".  I think it is an attempt to increase firearms laws and manufacturing costs, and thereby to take another step in disarming law-abiding people.
