first gun purchase/ salesman directed me to Jimenez
Question
Hi!
I have never purchased a firearm before and the salesman directed me to the Jimenez JA 380. I did some research- and they seem well- unreliable and not a great choice.
I am being stalked and am suddenly in need of protection- can you help suggest another choice? I was thinking a youth gun or a 38?
Thank you!
Patricia
Answer
Patricia,
I would only wish a JA on my enemies - it is not a gun you should trust your life to.
There is really no such thing as a "youth" pistol.
A .38 Special might be a good choice for price and simplicity. Look at the line of 2" barrel .38 Special revolvers from Taurus (e.g the model 850B2)if you plan to carry it, or if it will be kept only in the home, a longer barrel will make shooting it easier due to increased weight and longer sight radius. I might suggest looking at the 4" model 827B4.
