J.P.Sauer&SohnTexas Marshall .44magnum
Question
I own a .44magnum single action Texas Marshall made by J.P. Sauer & Sohn. One side of the pistol is stamped with J.P Sauer & Sohn Made in West Germany 236727/4. On the other side the stamp reads Texas Marshall Caliber .44Magnum Hawes Firearm Company Los Angeles California. I would like to know when the gun was made and what it may be worth. Thank you in advance, Bob
Answer
Bob,
The single action revolvers made by Sauer & Sohn and imported by Hawes were an inexpensive version of the Colt single action revolvers. I don't have any access to serial number records, but they were imported by Hawes from the mid-50s to mid-60s.
They are not considered collectable but are generally decent shooters. Depending on the condition, the values might range from $100 for a specimen in average condition to around $250-$300 in like new condition.
Sorry I can't be more helpful, but since these are not especially collectable, there is not a lot of info out there.
Best regards,
Doug
