J C higgins 12 ga pump shotgun
Question
Model 20- 12Ga 583.200. Is there a pistol grip stock available for the shotgun above? Also, can I buy a standard stock for it? Who were the J C Higgins shotguns made by? Mine is probably late 1950's.
Answer
Hi Jack.
Sorry for the delay. I was away from the PC due to a back injury.
JC Higgins shotguns were sold by Sears. They were generally low-priced guns with no frills and they were made in great quantities so the value is usually very low. Thus you won't find many modern aftermarket parts or accessories for them. In most cases you could buy a new shotgun for about the same price as trying to repair and upgrade an old JC Higgins model.
Your gun was made for Sears by High Standard and was originally referred to as their Model 10 (not the more recent Model 10 HS-10 which is a subcompact bullpup style). I haven't seen any pistol grips being marketed for the JC Higgins or High Standard gun like yours but there may be a few out there. My recommendation would be to check with a few local gunsmiths and see if they have any old spare parts laying around that they might be able to custom fit to your gun. Or check with http://www.e-gunparts.com/ and see if they have something that will work.
Good luck!
