Colt 1911
Question
Can you tell me the value of a Colt 1911 manfactured in 1918 in very good condition serial #473515
Model Of 1911 US Army
Answer
Fred,
If your pistol is not a reworked version, it might have a pretty high value. The original Army versions made in 1918 would have a black Army finish. In 95% condition, these pistols can be worth as much as $3200. In 90% condition you could be looking at around $2750. Unfortunately, without seeing the gun itself or at least very detailed photos of the gun, I can't really say how a gun appraiser might grade its condition. Even if it is only 80% which would be typical in a gun of this age, it would still be worth over $2000.
Some of these pistols were reworked subsequent to WWI, so it yours has a parkerized finished and it marked with either an "AA" or an "SA" it was reworked by either the Augusta Armory or the Springfield Armory. If you have a reworked gun, it would be worth much less, only $400 to $600.
Hope this helps you out...
