Winchester model 94 30-30

I own a Winchester model 94 that has no sight cover and has a saddle ring, the bluing has suffered some rust damage(minimal). I was wondering if I should sell it or keep it as an heirloom. The number on it is 4889483. I have only around 100 rounds through it and am quite interested to see what it's worth as an antique? Thank-you for taking the time to read myquestion. Robert Ralston.

Hello Robert Ralston. Your rifle was manufactured in 1980. This in it self answers your first question. It is not at this time an antique. As far as keeping it as a heirloom, that is up to you. An heirloom is an object held by a preceding generation with the intention of handing it down to the next generation. If this is your intention, there is one thing you may want to know about your 94. 1980 was the last year the Winchester Model 94 was manufactured at the New Haven, Conn. factory. During the time of the Model 94's first appearance, to 1980, there were 4,700,000 rifles made in this factory. The model 94 you describe, is the Model 94 Antique carbine. It should have plain stocks, but scroll work on the receiver. The saddle ring was not gold, but highly polished brass. It should also contain a polished brass loading gate. The value in good condition is $375-$450. This gun is not rare, so shooting it will not harm the value. I hope I have answered your question and thank you for choosing me to. Charles Gage
