Hi, I receive my Fathers Rohm pistol 38 special when he passed away was wanting to know a little about it.Western style made in sontre-brenz Germany. model number on the left grip is RG63 on the frame in front of the cyl. the number z67 is stamped in the frame.ser 51087

Hello Leon. First my condolence to you and the loss of your father. Lost mine last January. Now, your Western style revolver Model RG63 was also manufactured in .22 caliber. The RA-HM revolvers, along with some derringers, were imported into the U.S. during the 1960's through the 1970's. Some say that the z67 is linked to the manufacture date, thus, 1967. I really do not know about that. However, the Western Model RG63 in .38 Caliber is one of the better revolvers made by Sontheim an der Brenz in Germany. On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being a very cheap 'saturday night special' and 10 being a H&R Western Style revolver(still a lower end price revolver, but a good one), your RG63 falls in about #7. "GUN SMITH ALERT" I must say that you should NEVER shoot .38 special +P high velocity cartridges in it! Stick with lower velocity lead bullets. You will be able to enjoy it longer. I use wadcutters in my older 38's. Have it checked by a competent licensed gun smith before fireing it. If he gives it a go ahead, GO AHEAD!
