Answer
Hello Robert Cooley. You ask about a Royal Gun Works shotgun and a Remington shotgun. I would like to start with the Remington. It is a Model 1889 Double Barrel with curved hammers. Your serial number 222265 was made in 1902. A complete gun will include a rubber butt plate with RACo on it. There were seven grades ranging from Grade 1 thru Grade 7. The grade number will be stamped on the water table to the left of the serial number such as; 1 222265 ; 2 222265 ;etc. The higher the grade, the finer the quality and higher the price. If your Remington is complete and in average (60%) condition, the value will range from $500-$6,000. Please look at the picture at gunsamerica.com. Enter the item number 963293864. "GUN SMITH ALERT" Even if you do not intend to shoot it, have a competent qualified gunsmith check it for chamber depth, as well as, blackpowder proof or smokeless powder proof.
Now for the Royal Gun Works, it was manufactured by Henri Pieper approximately 1894. Values for this shotgun, in average condition (60%) run around $500. Laminated steel barrels were made to fire blackpowder shells ONLY! Clean it up and hang it on the wall. I hope this answers your questions and thank you for asking for me. Charles Gage
