Serial number locations
Question
I'm trying to locate the serial numbers on three (3) firearms:
Marlin Bolt Action rifle .22 cal Model 80G
Arrowhead .22 single shot rifle (this is a training gun I believe)
Noble 12 gauge pump shotgun Model 66J -
I have searched them and cannot locate where the serial numbers are. Can you assist?
thanks in advance!
Answer
Hello Mike,
I will attempt to help you with a little background on the weapons you have.
1) Marlin Bolt Action .22 cal Model 80G was made during the years 1960 and 1965.
The Gun Control act of 1968 made it mandatory for firearms manufacturers to put serial numbers on all firearms manufactured. Any gun prior to the gun control act likely did not have any serial numbers as it was not required by law nor was it common practice.
2) Arrowhead .22 caliber rifle - I was unable to find any reference to any arrowhead manufacturing company other than one company in Minnesota, Arrowhead Firearms. They make AR-15 style rifles only it appears. Not sure if this is the same company or what?
3)Noble Model 66J - While I could not find much information on the Noble Brand, I did learn that Noble made firearms from 1950-1971.
It is likely that all 3 firearms were made prior to the 1968 gun control act, therefore you will not find any serial numbers.
