snake shot for pistols
Question
I UNDERSTAND THAT SNAKE SHOT IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR USE IN A 22CAL PISTOL? CAN YOU TELL ME WHAT TYPE OF PISTOL I WOULD NEED TO PURCHASE THAT WILL TAKE THE SNAKE SHOT?
Answer
CCI lists their shotshell ammunition (snake shot) in .22 LR, but I'm not sure how available it is presently.
Although CCI makes snake shot cartridges (tiny #9 shot in a blue capsule that breaks apart in flight) for pretty much all centerfire calibers, I wouldn't trust it to feed in an auto pistol. If you want to use this kind of ammunition, you would be best to use a revolver such as a .38 Special, .357 Magnum, or .45 Colt.
Another option for you would be to look at the Taurus Judge. This strange looking revolver is purpose built to fire either .45 Colt ammunition or .410 shot shells, which will give you a wider variety of shot sizes.
