Value of a Winchester 33 WCF
Question
Hello,
About 40 years ago, I was given a Winchester Model 1886, 33 WCF, serial #158861, takedown version. I also have about 60 ORIGINAL bullets in the original boxes. They are NOT reloads. Would you happen to have any idea of the value of the rifle and ammo? Thank you for your reply.
Answer
Hello Steve,
I have had very little to no run in's with the model 1886 rifles, and the few that I did run into were chambered in the .45-70 caliber. I ran your gun through a database and did a little research on the .33 WCF ammo. I found out that your gun was manufactured in 1921 based on the serial number. I also found out that the original .33 WCF ammo was obsolete by 1940. You can get it special made through some ammo companies, but it won't be cheap and it won't be original pre-1940 ammo.
If you are holding on to your hat, you could probably fetch 3,500 -4,000 dollars for the gun and original ammo. Of course this all depends on the condition of the gun and the condition of the ammo, but mostly if the gun is in good condition you can still get right much for it.
Sounds like you have a great gun on your hands, hope it serves you well for many years to come! In 11 more years that gun will be 100 years old!
