Daisy BB Gun Pistol CO2 BB Gun Repeater Model 15xt .177 Caliber 480 fps
Question
I just went through a bitter divorce but unfortunately until our house sells were living in the same house. I found this gun in a kitchen cabinet (I didn't see any orange on it) and anyway I'm a little nervous about it. Is this anything I should be concerned about or report. My ex has never had any kind of gun before and so I now its not a sport?
Answer
Billie Jo,
Sorry to hear about your personal issues. Clearly I can't say why your ex might have purchased a BB gun, but the gun itself is not especially dangerous to you.
The gun you reference is a gun that might typically be used for backyard target shooting or shooting small birds or rodents. Some people use them to discourage neighborhood dogs from digging or pooping in yards.
In most circumstances the "BBs" would not even penetrate the skin unless you were shot at close range. Certainly there is a danger of injury if you were shot in the eye or something...
Overall, this would not likely be a 'lethal' device and while I can't comment on the state of your relationship, if someone were meaning to do serious harm to another, this would not be the type of gun they would pick...
As far as legality is concern, since you didn't tell me where you live, I can give you a specific answer, but in most jurisdictions there is no legal restriction on owning an airgun.
Best regards,
Doug
