Best Handgun?
Question
Hello, i am currently in college for criminal justice. I plan on going into some form of law enforcement. I want to practice shooting a handgun now to prepare. I am going to purchase one soon. I was leaning toward a glock model 22. Comments or suggestions?
Answer
The full sized .40 caliber Glock is probably the most common firearm in Law Enforcement. You couldn't go wrong with one.
If you plan to carry it, you'll probably find the Glock 23 (compact)an easier do. As I type this, I'm just getting back from a trip out of state, and it's the gun I've got on right now, and the one I carry almost every day.
The problem with any .40 caliber is cost (and sometimes availability) of ammunition. If you were to get a Glock 17 (full size) or 19 (compact) you'd probably be able to practice with it more. The G22 and G17 (and the G23 and G19) are identical to each other in all external dimensions, to transitioning from one to another would be simple.
