Lefever Nitro Special 20 gauge
Question
A friend has her grandfather's Lefever Nitro Special 20 guage double barrel/dual trigger shotgun serial# S227030. I've been trying to find information about the manufacture date, etc. It has flying ducks engraved on each side of the receiver. Please supply any information you can. Thank you.
Answer
Larry,
The Lefever Nitro Special was made by Ithaca between 1921 and 1948 before being discontinued. Ithaca bought ought Lefever in 1916 and wanted to capitalize from the famous name. A true Lefever gun would run you several thousands of dollars and are highly collectible. These Nitro Specials are worth anywhere 300-500 dollars.
