7 shot hopkins & alle .22
Question
after my fathers passing we found a Hopkins&allen pocket pistol. It's a .22 7 shot in fairly good condition. serial # 136. Any idea the age and dollar value?
Answer
Al,
I need a little more information before I can answer your question. First, can you tell me if there are other markings or indications of the model of the gun? Does it say anything like "XL Double Action" or is there a city stamped on it? It would most likely be either Norwich, CT or Worcester, MA.
The XL series guns were made in Norwich until around 1899. After that, it would have been marked Norwich, CT. Hopkins and Allen was purchased by Marlin in 1921.
I really need to know the model and get a better description of the gun. You say that it is in 'fairly good' condition. Can you describe in detail the condition (bluing faded, pitting on surface, wear on grip, stuff like that). If you can send a couple of decent photos, that would be even better.
I'd like to help you out, but you didn't give me very much to go on...
