remington model 4
Question
I have a remington model 4 22 short or long rifle passed down to me, It has an all octagon barrel and I also have a remington model 4 32 short caliber, with a half box of shells. It has an all octagon barrel too. What info and price can you give me
Answer
Todd,
These were first introduced by Remington in 1890 and were manufactured until 1933. The octagon barrels were standard on all models until very late in the series when round barrels were introduced. These came with a blued finish and case hardened frame. The frame initially was solid. In 1901 a lever takedown model was introduced. In 1926 the screw in takedown was substituted for the lever version. This particular model was Remington's smallest rolling block model. Approximately 350,000 of these rifles were made.
These rifles are quite valuable if they are in really good condition. In 90% condition, they are worth over $1000. Without being able to see the guns or very detailed photos, I cannot give you a accurate valuation. I can only give you some general idea of what they are worth.
Here is the rundown:
95% condition - $1300
90% condition - $1000
80% condition - $700
60% condition - $500
You can figure about $100 for every 10% increment below 80%...
Hope this helps you out...
