Question
Vest Gun
Would like to know approximate value of gun and the manufacturing
dates. The info we have received so far has been sporadic. I would greatly value your professional opinion.
Thanks so much,
Peanut Breaux
AnswerHello Peanut Breaux.
Your pistol is not a ' vest ' pistol, although it is small. It is actually a J. Stevens Arms Co. Model 41 Tip-up. It was manufactured between 1903 and 1916. It should have a two line address on top of the barrel. It has a grooved rear sight as part of the raised recoil shield. The trigger is called a ' spur ' trigger and the hammer should have a checkered design on it. I really cannot tell what caliber it is, but most were chambered for .22 short cartridges.
I hope this answers your question and thank you for asking for me. Charles Gage
Hello again, Peanut Breaux.
Not sure why you gave me a 3 for knowledge, since I spent over 2 hours researching your firearm. Is there a possibility that I didn't have enough information to answer your question? All you gave me was a picture and the term 'vest pistol'. If you can give me more information such as all the writing and numbers on the pistol, I will be glad to research it again. If not, thank you for helping me further my knowledge of Stevens Tip-up pistols. Charles Gage
