high standard double nine revolver
Question
I recently traded for a High Standard Double Nine Revolver Model W-104, Nickel Plated, 5.5 Inch Barrell, Serial #18666301, Longhorn Series. It has the 22LR cylinder, the plating is in very good conditon with just a little wear at the pawl notches. Simichrome Polish brought this little revolver to a mirror finish.
It has black plastic grips which waxed to near perfect condition.
I would like to know when this revolver was manufactured and the value.
Thanks for your time.
Answer
Hello Tony.
The Longhorn Series W-104 was manufactured from April 1962 into early 1970. It had an aluminum frame with blue or nickel plating. I am not sure, but did you accidently add a '6' in the serial number? If your revolver serial number is actually 1,866,301, your revolver was manufactured between 1967 and early 1968.
You ask for a value. I can only refer you to the value listed in the Blue Book of Gun Values by Fjasted. In 2006, it was valued at $250. In 2011, it's value has climbed to $325. This is for a firearm that is New In The Box. Most used firearms, in the condition you describe, fall into the 80%-90% range. That would be valued around $200. I always suggest that a firearm be valued to the market. I recommend you check these web sites: www.gunsinternational.com , www.gunsamerica.com or the auction sites: www.gunbroker.com , or www.auctionarms.com.
I hope this has answered your questions and thank you for asking for me. Charles Gage
