red dot laser weapons
Question
Rick:
I write mystery novels - I've seen dozens of movies with the red light dot floating aroudn the target - what I'm intersted in is whether the beam from the weapon could be seen from the target - that is - does its visibliy extend from weapon to target.
I hope I didn't make that too confusing.
Thanks for your help,
Jerry

I started a Gun and Tactics youtube channel where I address a lot of gun issues. Here are links:

yea, it can be if at a good angle and the dot for sure can be seen, it is just like any laser, you can get a pen laser and shine it and you can see it just like the guy can see.
However with new technology they have new lasers that are invisible to the naked eye and the shooter has to where special goggles in order to see it, the military is using this so all the good guys with goggles can see it but the bad guys without lasers cannot see it.
So it would depend of what type is being used, most commonly it can be seen, there is an old saying for warriors and that " If you can see the enemy, they can see you or if your bullets can hit the enemy their bullets can hit you.
