Trying to find out something about this shotgun.  Came down from my grandfather in mid 1970's.

Answer
Hello Bill.
Your Central Arms Co. shotgun was manufactured from 1918-1930, by Crescent Arms Company for Shapleigh Hardware Company (a hardware store similar to Sears or Montgomery Wards). These shotguns were utility grade. They were the 'working man's shotgun', priced to sell to the general populace at the time. They were very reliable and low maintenance. Have it checked by a licensed gunsmith before you try to fire it. Many of these were chambered for a shorter shell than the modern 2 3/4" available today.
I hope this answers your question, and thank you for asking for me. Charles Gage
