Question
.22 Revolver
I was looking to find a year and value of a gun.
It is Hawes Firearms Co of Los Angeles CA.
H. Schmidt Ostheim/Rhoen Made in W. Germany
.22 lr - has a HS in a circle and 76 next to it.
Serial 631XXX
Handle with a Buffalo or Bison
Brass or Gold color around the cylinder with a blue barrel.
Very good - near mint to mint shape
On the cylinder I think I see an elephant, but It could be a buffalo.
Thanks for any information or help you can supply!
AnswerJeff,
There is not a great deal of information about these available. They were imported by Hawes Firearms from a variety of sources. They were popular as a lower cost alternative to the more expensive Western style single action revolvers from Colt and other US manufacturers.
Based on the condition that you describe, an average value for your gun would be around $150. Centerfire versions are worth a little more.
I hope this helps you out...
Best regards,
Doug
