Ammo shortage
Question
I'm having a hard time finding ammo, particularly .40 S&W. Places like Cheaper than Dirt have only really expensive stuff in stock. Walmart here in South Florida is completely wiped out. My questions are, what is going on? And is there any place left I can get cheap range ammo for my 40? I don't have the knowledge or the space to do reloading on my own. Thank you for your time. I apologize if you don't take these types of questions.
Answer
With the new gun control talk, arms and ammo are flying off the shelves. Expect prices to rise until supply catches up to demand.
You do not need a lot space to reload. You mount it to heavy piece of wood and c clamp it to a table I made my reloading out an old wood dinning room chair and oak plank. You can get Lee Precision Lee Carb 3 Die Set 40S&W for under $35. Comes with easy to follow instructions. Its really easy to reload handgun ammo. A basic press used $30ish As a shell tray, priming tool and you are ready to begin. Lee also makes a hand press that needs not be mounted on anything. http://leeprecision.com/ price shop it on other sites you can get it for less than MSRP on that site. If you try buy a lot right away. Those got scarce last time this happened 4 years ago. Shortages lasted 18 months last time.
You places you can try to see if there any bulk ammo left or back order it.
