12 ga single shot top break
Question
Im really hoping you may have some knowledge about this gun because I have searched what seems like every inch of the web and I cannot find hardly any info on this gun which was amongst a handful of firearms I herited from my dad. It is just a cool little gun and I have never owned a 12ga of itsstyle so any info u might have on it, about, what it was made to do, or justa push in the right direction of w here to look would be appreciated. What I know is this its a marswells 12ga single shot long gun with a top break barrel with a pistol grip and a manually cocking hammer firing mech. Serial num is b7189. From what I did find marswells was made by marlin, but iv been on marlins site and there is no reference to it. Any info would help greatly im frustrated at the lack of info I have found thank u so much for your time, and I appreciate it either way. Nick.
Answer
Hi,
Marswell was a house brand trade name used by arms made for Marshall-Wells Hardware Co. of Duluth Minn. Marlin did make some guns for the Marshall-Wells. However the single shots they were made by Iver Johnson Arms & Cycle Works in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. The Iver Johnson "Champion" single shots were made from 1909 to 1956.
